Rare William & Mary Period Carved Oak Daybed

About the Item

A rare early 18th century carved oak daybed with fine Primitive form. The frame with turned bobbin stretchers, geometric and stylized bird of prey carvings. The flat cushion upholstered in a deep rose foliate fabric. The frame with an overall time-worn soft hand only achieved through great age. Dimensions: 23 1/2" H x 56" L x 20" W, 17" SH Condition: There are various signs of great age including slightly loose joinery and some slight time-softened wood losses which do not detract from the exceptional presentation.

    A beautifully shaped William and Mary oak armchair with well carved horse-bone legs and arm supports, scrolled feet and handsomely carved front stretcher with S scrolls and geometric motif.
