Saikoro Bench with Precious Terrazzo and Brass Details and Historical Oak Stand

About the Item

Our Saikoro collection is inspired by Japanese styling and we call it Saikoro because it meens “Dice” . The cubes in the Saikoro collection are like a dice. This cubes, blocks, are made out of historical oak wood and is very hard to find in this size and age. We wanted to use this because we could be sure it’s dry and ready to use. Of course also because of the dramatic beautiful cracks in it. To make the whole stabile we added some massive brass detailing underneath that is cut with a waterjet for perfect cuttings and guarantee the stability. The complete build up and treatment of the piece is done all by hand, in co-opp. with the heart and brains. The tablet is not massive terrazzo, it is much lighter and less porous and less breakable. The binding of the terrazzo and the microcement is done with polymers and not with water which gives it flexibility and more strenght. The durability is even more upgraded by the proces that it is given during the sanding stage. The air is crystalized in the material and at a molecular level the binding of the cement is enhanced with more than 100%. After the cure of this proces it is polished until grain 3500 and treated with an invisible stain-proof product. The stones that are used are semi precious onyx and originate from Italy. The brass is polished to high gloss and brushed and is kept untreated. The stands will patinate over time and is part of the charme. So this piece of furniture is not just furniture anymore, it’s more like a statement There will be only be build two in this combination modelled by Studio G1 and made by Atelier Raf for Liz Tables exclusively.
