About the Item
"Structur" features a substantial belt-worn structural timber from one of the many gutted 19th century factory buildings turned contemporary apartment complexes of downtown New Haven, CT. It's tapered legs are hand forged from 1 1/2" solid steel to support the timber (and it's visitors).
The artist utilizes the uniquely carved edges of the old beam, fabricated by time and friction, capturing a piece of industrial history in the wooden seat while maintaining mid-century-modern lines in the legs below.
