About

A rare Swedish Gustavian reclaimer or daybed, circa 1870, in original time worn patina. Three sides feature carved guilloché detail and the round, tapered legs are accented by carved rosettes and acanthus leaves. An exceptional Recamier that would make a statement in any space either traditional or contemporary.

The Gustavian style, named after King Gustav III of Sweden, is a restrained interpretation of the French Louis XV and Louis XVI style. King Gustav III was enamored with the neoclassical style and therefore created his own interpretation for Sweden.
