Vintage Italian Bench Made Of Ebonized Wood And Dedar Fabric

About the Item

We kindly suggest that you read the whole description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Elegant and sophisticated Italian ebonized wood bench; the structure is very solid and sturdy, the legs with rectangular sections are joined by two cylindrical partitions, and the upper seat, slightly curved, is wide and comfortable. The bench was made between 1958 and 1960 in one of the many artisan workshops in the area of Lissone (Monza-Brianza-Italy), a place famous for the production of high-quality carpentry; the artisans were inspired by the desire to design an object with small dimensions favoring the idea of comfort and intimacy, and they gave the bench timeless originality, following the fashion of those years; its design plays on the contrast between the rigidity of the wood and the warm softness of the seat padding. We proceeded to restore the seat in the padding and with a new upholstery; the Master craftsman who did the work chose a sophisticated and very expensive fabric with a white background and innovative black pattern: a velvet flock with Moirè workmanship from the Dedar Company. Dedar is an old textile company located in Lombardy (Italy) with production excellence thanks to artisans and textile experts, masters in the techniques used in the creation of exclusive and original fabrics; Dedar expresses a very personal style in its products, creating collections that are always at the forefront of high fashion for upholstery fabrics; Dedar specializes in the production of high-end fabrics and wallpapers. The company is known for its exquisite design, attention to detail, and use of luxury materials. Dedar offers a wide range of fabrics, including upholstery fabrics, curtains, veils, and trimmings, as well as a collection of unique wallpapers. The Lombard company's Italian style and design are world-renowned. What may look like flaws or deformities in the white part of the photos are instead the beautiful and fascinating reflections of Moirè fabric. We can say that with these features our bench interprets spaces where elegance is put at the service of leisure and entertainment. The bench is so original that it can be a nice and practical aesthetic solution to complete your decor, it is suitable for any environment, in the entrance hall, in the sleeping area at the foot of the bed, in the living room, in the study and with its comfortable and soft padding invites you to sit and rediscover the pleasure of spending comfortable and pleasant moments. Having been restored, the bench is in excellent condition. Measures width cm.52, depth cm.37, height cm.44, seat cm.44. For all our shipments we use special packing materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the items.

  • Paolo Buffa Style Italian Pair on Benches Brass Legs and Guild Fabric

We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our objects. Iconic and elegant pair of benches; the whole structure is solid, and the elegantly shaped legs are an integral and important part of the whole design and with their inclination make the benches very stable. In addition, the legs have a rare construction peculiarity: the core is made of wood and the outer covering is made of brass (see photo); the shaping of the entire form is very elegant and understated. The benches were created between 1960 and 1965 in the Brianza area (Lombardy, Italy), a historic location known for its designer furniture made with great craftsmanship. The artisans were inspired by the style of Paolo Buffa, with the desire to design two objects with small dimensions favoring the idea of comfort and coziness, and gave the benches a timeless originality, following the fashion of those years; we know for certain that the architect Buffa used Lombard craftsmen of recognized skill for the construction of his furniture, who used very refined materials also because the objects were intended mainly for the apartments of the rich Milanese bourgeoisie; our benches with their characteristics of quality, accuracy, and finish, were certainly made by those master craftsmen. Paolo Buffa (1903-1970) was an Italian architect and designer known for his mid-century furniture designs. More than a forerunner, he is a faithful spokesman for the taste of his time: neoclassical first and Novecentist later. Paolo Buffa was highly esteemed internationally for his refined design and rigorous execution, displaying expertise that was singularly Italian. Before his death in 1970 in Milan, Italy, Buffa had been named one of the country's leading designers. The structure has been left in its original condition, while we have upholstered the top with an iconic and sophisticated "cut velvet "with a unique pattern with a geometric cut by Designer Guild; the pattern is Quarenghi-Cocoa, one of the company's best fabrics. (see original Guild set photo). Color and classic reinvented and reinterpreted in a current key. Striking combinations, big flowers, elegant design. Fabrics and wallpapers with great decorative impact, color, and classic reinvented and reinterpreted in a current key. Striking combinations, big flowers, elegant design. Fabrics and wallpapers of great decorative impact, but also easy and always up-to-date solutions. This, and more, is the Designers Guild. Designers Guild, founded in 1970 by Tricia Guild, is an international home and lifestyle company, with headquarters and showrooms in London's Kings Road and Marylebone High Street and its own stores around the world; it also designs and distributes collections of high-impact luxury upholstery fabrics...

  • Louis XVI Style French Bench with "Vienna Straw" Seat
    Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Interesting and graceful oak bench; the legs, conical and elegantly fluted, are joined at the base by a well-designed and harmonious X-shaped element; the well-solid frame is carved with simple, linear, and refined motifs; the upper oval part serves as the seat is enriched with fine "Vienna straw" work. The bench was made between 1880 and 1885 in an artisan workshop near Paris certainly by a very skilled master cabinetmaker because this kind of workmanship requires a lot of experience and skill. The process of seat construction using equidistant holes and a woven plant material (drawn guinea cane) was known since Egyptian times (a stool was found in the tomb of the architect Kha dating from 1600° B.C.), but it was from the mid-19th century that it became popular worldwide. It was the Austro-Hungarian cabinetmaker Michael Thonet (father of bentwood) who in 1842 created chair No. 4 with this technique for the Daum café on Vienna's Kohlmarkt, but success came in 1859 when the Gebruder Thonet company of Michael's sons presented chair No. 14 made of curved solid wood with a straw seat...
