About the Item
This wonderful large overscale rare vintage sculpted smoked gradient lucite bench with squared off arms is the work of a Greek designer from Atlanta in the 60's named Spiros Zakas. He at this time in the 60's and 70's preferred to bend sheets of plastic into frames instead of glueing pieces together. This technique is called the Bend technique. The newly upholstered cushion is a textural off white upholstery weave by Ralph Lauren. The contrast of light and dark gives it a wonderful presence and could float in a room. The seat height is 17" H. The arm height is 19.5" H. It is the presumption that many of these pieces now are hard to come by. This was designed in 1968-69 and had its debut then at department stores. We have never seen another one.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. There are a few scratches on the lucite. There is one mark in from to the arm. The upholstery was redone and new insides were put in in the seat cushion.
