Yacht Platform Converted Bench for Interior or Exterior Use
About the Item
95.5" wide, 18.5" deep and 16.75" tall. A genuine vintage boat Transom / swimming platform. It was turned into a bench by the owner of a company years ago. It is still however fully useable as a swim platform and thanks to being indoors for years, is in excellent condition. It is exceptionally well made with the slats edged and there are 8 rods inserted within the frame and then capped off with a dowel insert, so it is very strong. We have pictured one of the 8 inserted dowel joints. Being made of solid teak this bench can be used in a patio setting, interior or exterior or besides the pool. The nautical theme will suit many decors.
Based on the legs, we assume it was transformed into a bench probably in the 70's or 80's. We do not know the age. Condition shows some marks to the varnish with screw hols present to the underside from where it used to be attached to the boat, and of course the new screw holes which support the leg brackets. There are some nicks and dents and it has not been restored; but can be if asked for a fee. But if restored, really only boat spar varnish should be used because that it what the teak has been coated with. It is a very well made piece and exceptionally stable and strong.
