About the Item

Rare and comfortable "bergère" armchair in green upholstery and grey lacquered wood. Stamped with the designer's mark Panier Fleuri. The wide, sculpted "gondola"-shaped backrest is adorned with two carved roses, while the armrests each end elegantly in a carved scroll element - an emblematic feature of the designer's work. André Groult (1884-1966) was a French interior designer and decorator. Especially known for his skillfull work with materials such as Macassar-ebony, ivory and shagreen, Groult's pieces are described as compromising the line between tradition and modernism.
