Regency Mahogany Bergere Chair

About the Item

English mahogany bergere arm chair Regency period circa 1815 attributed to Gillows. Frame caned throughout with arched top rail and down swept arms ending with ball ebonised terminals on moulded sabre legs with applied turned roundals to the front corners ending on good quality angled brass castors. This form of chair is known as a curricle chair after a Roman design adopted by Gillows in the early 19th century.
