Iconic Canape by Jacques Charpentier, France 1970
About the Item
This iconic canape was designed by the French designer Jacques Charpentier, in France in the 70s.
The canape has been entirely reupholstered in faux fur. The base is a stainless steel plinth.
Its classic shape makes it a model that can easily be adapted to a wide range of interiors, while retaining the unique style of the period and a striking originality.
An advertisement from the period appears in the photographs.
CHARPENTIER Jacques, France (1918-1986)
Born into a Parisian family, Jacques Charpentier studied at the Ecole Boulle, graduating top of his class in 1945. The young decorator and friend of Réné Prou opened a workshop in the 17th arrondissement, specializing in the manufacture of decorative objects. In the early 1960s, he began designing stainless steel sofas. By the end of the 70s, the company had nearly 60 employees. He collaborated with Jansen on numerous decorating projects.
