18th Century American Curved Ladder Back Oak Chair with Rush Seat

About the Item

This early American Colonial chair features curved splats in back and turned front legs and double upright supports on three sides. The front supports are also turned, with turned finial posts ending in urn and ball tops. Country furniture like this is an important area of early American decorative arts and this is an exceptionally good piece with much detail. Wonderful old patina.

    Wear consistent with age and use. The rush seat has probably been replaced at one time and is in excellent condition. The chair is in very good sturdy condition with normal loss in places to the old original finish.
