About the Item

Single chair made in Northern Europe during the 1950s. The frame is solid beech with its original clear finish; legs are tapered and slightly splayed, joined by a curved front stretcher. Seat and curved backrest are covered in red skai vinyl, fixed with a perimeter row of metal tacks. The backrest is reclined and shaped for lumbar support, while the seat has a broad, rounded profile. Joinery is dowelled and screwed, typical of mid‑century Scandinavian cabinet practice. Padding remains resilient. The original skai can stay in place or act as a template for an upholstery choice suited to the chair’s destination. Overall design is modern and restrained, reflecting post‑war Nordic functionalism.
