19th Century English Vernacular Childs Barbers Chair

About the Item

A rare and unusual vernacular child's barbers chair in beech and pine. Out swept arms with chamfered supports, centred by a pierced reverse heart splat with composition akin to a 'smokers bow' chair. The perforated diamond motif seat cover has been added to a previously caned seat that increases and decreases in height on a good quality thread. The shapely out swept legs are united by a turned four way cross stretcher. In wonderful untouched condition, colour and form with two small historic repairs to the splat.
