English Primitive Scroll Back Oxford Chair
About the Item
A wonderful scroll-back 'Oxford' style armchair in ash and birch.
Of sculptural form and a rare, primitive example of the vernacular chair-making style that flourished in the Thames Valley & Chilterns during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Exceptional colour and wear, still showing its original madder paint.
Structurally sound, sturdy and in good condition.
Front leg has been tipped. Wear commensurate with age.
