About the Item

Abrigo armchair by Mameluca Material: stainless steel Dimensions: D110x W70 x H90 cm Also available in different color. A steel plate was cut into circular movements and then twisted and welded, creating this chair with rustic and naturally elegant finishing. Creating new shapes from flat surfaces is one of the trademarks of Neo-concrete artworks and, in this case, the source of inspiration. Here, the circle expands fully, extrapolating the square and surprising every expectation. "Expanding the circle. The spatial tension that led to the breakdown of the unique form was created. The circle being full and limitless, stretched itself and surpassed the square." - Lygia Clark. "Our goal with Design is to tell stories, generating questions, emotions and discoveries through human senses. Contemporary design transcends basic survival needs and leads us to a poetic design of new information and experiences." The studio was launched in 2010 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After 10 years, it’s time to cross the Atlantic and explore the old world not only historically but the way the old has being reinvented everyday based on the needs of the new. We are still in a transitional atmosphere without a physical space, but full of expectations with the new horizon.

Cadeira Chair by Macheia
Located in Geneve, CH
Cadeira Chair by Macheia Handmade In Portugal. Dimensions: D 45 x W 45 x H 88 cm. Materials: Natural dried bulrush and galvanized iron. The chair’s concept is rooted in the notion that every spiral starts around a hand. The hole, the imprint of the creator’s hand, is here highlighted by the organically shaped metal back, pointing out where the chair begins. The rhythm of the metal elements of the chair is set by the stitches from the technique. The technique is seen through a new lens, raw and exposed, bringing it closer to its identity as a plant. The Collection zooms in the Bunho technique - a unique portuguese basketry technique that shapes the natural fiber Bulrush (Schoenoplectrus Palla), into a intricate mesh of knots and stitches. Nowadays, the Bunho technique is kept by the hands and know-how of only two artisans in Europe, One of them is Manuel Ferreira...

One-of-a-Kind Contemporary Aziza Easy Chair by Hugo França, Brazil 2017
By Hugo França
Located in Deerfield Beach, FL
This lounge chair is an unique piece in pequi wood made in Brazil in 2017, by contemporary designer Hugo França, famous for his sculptural furniture using reclaimed wood and preserving the organic forms of the tree. This piece was originally a canoe manufactured by the Pataxó indigenous people, in south of Bahia, Brazil. In the early 80s, Hugo França abandoned his previous career as an industrial engineer in São Paulo to be closer to nature, moving to Trancoso, Bahia. Witnessing from up-close the rampant destruction of the local Atlantic Forest greatly impacted him, motivating his current work as a designer. França reverences the very trees salvaged by him as his main inspiration; he works intuitively, allowing his creative process to be guided by each tree’s organic...
