Beautiful Pair of Scottish Arts & Crafts Oak Bedroom Side Chairs by E A Taylor

About the Item

A stunning pair of Arts & Crafts side chairs from the early 1900s. Attributed to E A Taylor for Wylie & Lockhead. Made in Scotland. The chairs have the most elegant structure, with slim tapering back rests, angular squared seat and softly splayed legs. There are rectangular parallel stretchers to the front, with rounded parallel stretchers to the sides and a single one at the back. Made in a solid oak with a warm honey tone, and finished with the original rush seat. These chairs would be a perfect pair in the bedroom. The chairs are in great condition for their age. Beautiful colour and patina to the wood and original rush seating. The rush has some small breaks in places but is still very useable, full and strong. There is a missing flat band at the back of one of the seats. see pics for details. We will ship the chairs in a plywood box to keep them safe during transit. Shipping to US takes between one and two weeks.

  • A Pair of Jää Armchairs - Sustainable Recycled Indoor / Outdoor Suite
By Jo Wilton and Mirka Grohn
    Located in Leicester, GB
The Jää Armchairs offer robust seating solutions for spaces such as museums and galleries or real statement pieces for the residential sector. The Finnish word jää has two meanings; ‘ice’ and ‘please stay’ - a perfect word for sustainable pieces of design. Our inspiration for the Jää furniture came initially from the beautiful and practical nature of recycled plastic and its environmentally friendly credentials. Through the design and use of materials, we wanted to show that recycled plastic furniture can be bold, desirable, and aesthetically pleasing. The Jää furniture is made out of 100% recycled post-consumer plastic - pure waste that has been diverted from landfills. The furniture is made in Britain with a mixture of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastic shapes with small custom-made polished aluminium spacers and nuts. Further, the Jää designs are also fully recyclable contributing to the circular economy. The Jää pieces are sculptural, multifunctional, and adaptable designs suitable for both indoors and outdoors in public and private spaces. Handmade to order in the UK. Each chair measures: 73 cm wide x 70 cm high x 80 cm deep. Each piece can be made to any width, please contact us for any bespoke requirements. Also shown in the images Jää Cube and Grey Screen.
