About the Item

Here the set of 6 Biedermeier armchairs. After the success of the first set I was able to make two more interesting sets from the collection that is probably the widest mid 19th century chair collection. An profusion of cherry, walnut wood, carvings and curves used at the time with the designs that made the style so popular. Just an unique set for a customer who wants his home to speak about not having repetitions. Each arm chair is a work of art. Scattered around a living room will just enrich of style and conversations point your home. From a Biedermeier collector in Verona, chairs will be sent as they are or complimentary reupholstered and with a French polish and wax refreshment layer. Listed measure is the first one on the left of the lower row with a cream seat. Complete list of measures will be sent on request. Listed as country of origin Austria however the Biedermeier sets has a wider area belonging: what is called Mittel-European (Middle-European) 19th century cultural area. So that is what is today Germany, Czech, Slovachia, Austria, Slovenia, Northern Italy. It was the style of the growing middle class. One note about the Biedermeier name. It's commonly known as the name of a satirical magazine to describe the emerging European middle class. There is more to that. People were used, before the Biedermeier period, to call a chair or a furniture by the king that was ruling at the time. Here we have Louis XV, Regency, Victorian, Empire, Louis Philippe and what is the name of this chairs that are not belonging to a king or a queen, Biedermeier. So the name is not denigrating like most time you can see on literature, it means not belonging to a despote. A new era made of common people.
