Bodil Kjaer White Stained Oak Principal Bar Stool For Karakter
Drawing inspiration from Bodil Kjær's Principal chair from 1961, the Principal Stool maintains the chair’s functional and minimalistic design. Characterised by a simple and honest use of form and material, the design is timeless in every aspect. It is meticulously designed down to the finest detail, offering an enduring piece to be cherished for generations. Balancing a geometric structure with soft organic shapes, the piece forgoes superfluous detailing in favour of a minimal design, ensuring it can adapt to various spaces and maintain its relevance year after year.

About the designer:
She has been featured in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal Magazine. She designed a desk for MIT which was dubbed ‘The most beautiful desk in the world’ and eventually immortalized in 3 early James Bond movies. Danish architect, designer and professor Bodil Kjær (born 1932) is the female trailblazer of Danish midcentury design, who although tutored by modernist master Finn Juhl, in her own words “… never had much interest in following in the footsteps of the Danish rat pack”. Kjær looked to America, inspired by Charles and Ray Eames, and indeed many of her most notable designs stems from her time in the U.S., where she briefly worked at Paul McCobb, before moving to Boston to further her career in corporate interior architecture. Kjær’s reignited prominence as a designer in later years is well deserved. Pared back, elegant and decidedly modern, her iconic pieces slip effortlessly into contemporary life 60 years on. Today, Bodil Kjær is back in Denmark and lives on the east coast of Jutland where she continues to teach, do research and participate in the architectural development of the city of Aarhus.

CC Stool in Natural Oak, solid wood frame and curved seat, height 44 cm, D40 cm
By Niko Kralj
Located in Ljubljana, SI
The CC stool is similar in design and finish to the CC table and is a perfect match. Ideal for occasional seating, this item is an elaborate take on a wooden stool. With a solid wood frame and a curved seat, the CC Stool possesses a unique character and also works as a stand-alone piece. Designed by Niko Kralj in year 1954.
The Cross Connection (CC) family offers a unique view of this often unseen area by separating the legs from the elevated top. Stand-alone pieces to admire and enjoy.
With over two million chairs produced, the designs of Niko Kralj (1920-2013) have served numerous generations. After the Second World War, traditional production methods gave way to modern inventions and led to a new era of furniture design. As a trained architect and an absolute pioneer in this field, Niko developed truly innovative pieces for the time and became one of the first ever industrial designers. It’s little wonder that fellow professionals are gradually recognising his work, which has been rewarded with permanent displays in design museums such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, Designmuseum Denmark and The International Design Museum Munich.
