About the Item

This is an ejection seat from a Boeing B-52 that is set up for training. The tag on the seat indicates that it was the Bombardier's seat, which is a downward ejecting seat located on the lower deck. This is not a working ejection seat, and it contains no explosives but has all of the controls and features of the actual B-52 seat. Ejection seats from the B-52 are hard to find. The B-52 began flying with the USAF in the early 1950s and has been in service with the USAF for more than 65 years. The B-52 with the latest and planned future upgrades is expected to remain in service into the 2050s, which will make it the first bomber (and only bomber) in the history of the world to be in service for over 100 years. This strategic bomber can fly at 50,000 feet at a cruise speed of 525 mph (Top Speed is 650 mph). The B-52 carries a crew of 5 and sits over 40 feet tall and carries over 280,000 lbs of fuel at takeoff! The B-52 carries approximately 70,000 lbs of bombs, missiles, mines, and mixed ordinance.
