Daniel Boddam Studio’s booham chair, brings together contemporary and modernist influences overlaid with Boddam’s signature Australian sensibility. Working in the great traditions of Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret, the Booham Chair imbues both a primitive and contemporary edge. Its boomerang-shaped structure creates a grounded feel, while the rattan backrest brings a sense of travel with its airy, modern-tropical aesthetic. “It offers solidity of base and transparency of backrest,” Boddam says. “This rationale is typical of tropical climates, allowing airflow so your body can breathe.” The chair is testament to simplicity, comfort, and elegance. It’s slender proportions give workability in a number of settings and lifestyles, while maintaining a true sense of comfort. Inspired by a lifetime of travel, the chair’s rich materiality gives a sense of romance, appearing as a collected piece brought home from travels abroad. The Booham Chair is hand-made in Australia to order using sustainably forested timber, available globally via Daniel Boddam Studio. Materials: American Walnut and American Oak ( limed, smoked and black stain options POA), Rattan and upholstered in Fabio boucle from Warwick Fabrics (range of colours available). Daniel Boddam Studio is an Australian architecture and design practice driven by a pursuit of simplicity. Establishing his eponymous studio in 2013, Boddam quickly committed himself to “the poetry of reduction” – his singular belief that a sense of calm and wellbeing can be achieved through design. Regardless of expression – architecture, interiors or furniture design – Boddam seeks to inspire human engagement and a connection with nature whilst celebrating the artisanal.
