About the Item
The Chainmail Chair reinterprets William Katavolos' 1952 T-chair, incorporating a medieval-modern aesthetic that merges ancient craftsmanship with contemporary design. The seat is formed from hand-linked metal rings, creating a strong, flexible mesh that drapes over the chair’s T-structure, fusing medieval artistry with modern functionality.
The Chainmail Chair ultimately challenges and explores the notion of constraint, questioning the relationship between comfort and limitation., we sought to explore the body’s openness to a range of expressions—pain, pleasure, and the intersection of both—reflecting on our primal instincts.
The chainmail material itself, though rooted in medieval history, brings forth a distinctly modern, industrial character. Made of interconnected rings, it forms a textile-like mesh that is both simple in concept and rich in symbolism. This blend of ancient technique and contemporary innovation creates a unique medieval-modern fusion, balancing the past and present in an unexpected way.

Panorammma Atelier
Panorammma is a furniture design laboratory based in Mexico City that seeks to redefine our relationship with functional objects through experimentation with materials and forms. At Panorammma, functionality becomes a premise for visual narratives and a means to conceive altered states of living. Panorammma’s peotics oscillate between disciplines, while focusing on a crucial point of contemporary sensibility: the expanding pathology of the concrete, the alineation of everyday life and the space that abstraction occupies in the social sphere. Panorammma’s designs delve into these themes by exploring past visions of the future and creating the myth of memory. Panorammma pursues the creation of objects that generate fissures from which fantasy spills into our reality and informs an imaginative play; a scenography from parallel fiction. Pseudo prop. Panorammma creates actors through whose presence and performative ability can create of our domestic spaces unusual scenarios. Testimonies of a refusal to live ordinarily. Maika Palazuelos (Designer and Director) initiated Panorammma during the confinement with the intention of creating a permeable and open platform for design exploration. Identifying in expressive domestic objects a possibility for them to complete with and extend our everyday narrative by inserting themselves into it. In a sense, they become trojan horses for artistic discourse by disrupting and reframing the mundane.
