About the Item

The chairs from the series « Liga» (referring to « Links » in French) illustrate the robustness and rigidity of Zelfo. In those limited editions of pieces, Zelfo is used to assemble and solidify 3-dimension structures that are both strong and complex. Their organical aspect, made of rounded shapes, archs and knots, results directly from their construction method. Starting from a fragile pre-assembled skeleton made of light wood, 6 strong knots for colourful Zelfo, retracting as they dry like in an original Embrace, literally ossify the structure. The sticks of wood cross each other and seem to melt into one another, allowing them to raise and support a seat. Edition Galerie Gosserez.. Limited edition of 20 pieces. Elise Gabriel is a young French designer that gratuated from two famous design schools, Ecole Duperré (material and textile department) and Ecole Boulle (Design department). From her training as a textile designer, Elise Gabriel derives a special sense of materials and their potential in shaping objects. Confronting herself to the industrial constraints of furniture design conception, she opened up a new domain. From this double influence, she has created her own approach to design, where technique, poetry, functionality and form mix together. In memory of her youth spent in the sculpture workshop of her artist father, she also likes to create and to hand make. For her every project is the opportunity to question the ordinary. Whatever the starting point is, a material, a gesture or a technique, Elise Enjoys very much to reveal it under a new light to her audience. As a young independent designer, she currently shaves her time between personal reserch shown in galleries, spaces or industrial products design and the conception of cultural or pedagogical events. Projects that she implements alone or in a duo with associate designer Bertrand Gravier. Over the last 3 years, she has been working in particular for Centre Pompidou, Ateliers d'exercises, Galeries Lafayettes, Dior, the Mac/Val Museum and the Quai Branly Museum. Her work has been presented in a number of exhibitions in London, Milan, Paris and Beijing. Recently, the Centre National des Arts Plastiques has commissioned the prototype of her "Ossos" table that uses the new Zelfo.
