About the Item
Exquisite and beautiful pair of Midcentury design chairs made by the English factory Elliots of Newbury, in Berkshire. Each chair is structured with teak wood and is upholstered in black leather with a satin finish. Characteristic elements of midcentury shapes, with Nordic influence, resulting in a simple and minimalist but highly functional piece. For example, the backrest has an inclination for ergonomic support of the back. In addition, the turning of the metal legs and knobs makes it a chair of exquisite craftsmanship and a high degree of sophistication. Good condition for its age and use.
About Elliotts of Newbury
Elliotts was a furniture, molding and carpentry manufacturing company located in Newbury, founded in 1850 by Samuel Elliot. It soon consolidated and began with equipment projects for churches, banks and other buildings. At the dawn of 1900 he was already working with the most important architects of the Victorian era such as Alfred Waterhouse, Norman Shaw and Gilbert Scott. This company achieved great national fame since during the First World War they produced ammunition boxes and sports gliders. After the war, the company returned to its usual market, currently producing furniture with a midcentury aesthetic like these chairs, with skillfully turned noble woods.
