Ernest Race Flamingo Chair
About the Item
The Flamingo chair was designed by Ernest Race for Race furniture and manufactured from 1959 - 1962. It won the Design Centre award in 1959 and is recognised as one of the classic British mid century designs.
The Flamingo chair is becoming very rare and is seldom seen on the market compared to other Ernest Race pieces like the Heron and Antelope chairs and Penguin Donkey bookcase, unlike the Heron chair it has not been reissued by Race furniture.
The chair has had a complete overhaul with new foam, upholstery and the legs lightly refinished. It has been upholstered in a classic matt grey Bute fabric, Elgin Metal (92% pure new wool, 8% nylon). Since being upholstered the chair has not been used.
This listing is for one chair although we currently have 2 available in similar condition.
