About the Item

Here an iconic set, coming from a mansion in Bologna. Rosewood. The set is made of the pyramid stem shaped table from Saporiti and four iconic 1970s chairs. Here the description of each piece Table. It's the Chelsea table designed by Vittorio Introini and made by Fratelli Saporiti. There are many versions of this table. Here is the round with extension. The particularity of this table is that the extensions flaps are underneath the stem, not in between the stem and the table. Rosewood veneer. Table is almost immaculate. Shows just few usage. See photos. Chairs: Work of art on the curves of the back rest. Not only the curved part that is almost impossible to believe for the difficulties of having a half circle. The rosewood veneering is also perfeclty done. What surprised me and the restorer is the Sky leather that is immaculated. Showing no sign of time and still perfectly shining. I simply don't think there is any faux leather form the 1970s so well kept. These chairs had little use and are a rare find. I am attributing these to Willy Rizzo because it has reminescence of his chairs. Mario Sabot or Pierre Cardin as distributors. Dovetail construction. Typical Udine 1970s manufacturing that could belong to Costantini. Before the vague of black lacquer but with a typical 1970s construction so I am giving a circa 1975 for this. As the decade was ending almost all Udine chairs become black lacquered. All in all this is just a fantastic group. A round table that could become larger when added the extension. Just little signs of use. I am here listing each measurements in centimeters while on the listing measures I will put the table closed Chairs Height 80 cm Width 47cm Depth 54 cm Seat height 45 cm Table Diameter 118.5 cm Height 77.5 cm Extension 40 cm making an oval of 118.5 x 158.5 cm Attributions: The technology and materials are leading to look for a prime manufacturer of the 1970s. The puzzle of this group is that the table is the Chelsea from Introini but Saporiti does not have records of the chairs. However the chairs have the same veneer of the table so it has to come from the same manufacturer. Mario Sabot comes into the play for this reason. Whoever can help me is welcome. Even if attribution is uncertain this is a valuable group that is just unique.

Minor losses. Report of small signage of use will be given. Where the extensions fit under the stem there is a small damage that will be fixed with wenge wood by professional restorer. Option to repolish complimentary the top with brushing techinque.
