French Colonial Walnut Faux Bamboo and Leather Folding Deck Chair, circa 1900
About the Item
This French walnut folding deck chair from the turn of the twentieth century features turned legs and seat back supports of faux bamboo. From the French Colonial period when the French Empire extended as far as northern Africa and Southeast Asia, the style reflects these influences from abroad. The arms and seat back supports are capped in brass and connected by a leather strap, and the seat and seat back are also of leather, circa 1900.
