French Neogothic Chestnut Curule Armchair with Two Lionheads, French, circa 1900

About the Item

French Armchair carved in the neogothic style. This type of armchair is called a curule armchair, in reference to the Roman period, or a Dagobert armchair. Nature-inspired furniture is typical of the Art Nouveau period. The lion heads are remarquable because they are in the same time realistic and anthropomorphic: the two lions of the top and the lion of the front are all sticking out their tongues. The rest of the sculptures on the chair are plant motifs. Here again we find the neo-Gothic inspiration. Good condition, solid and sound Good antique condition Shipping : 58.5 / 60 / 44 cm 8.2 kg.
