Set of six chairs in ebonized wood and original seat in sturdy velvet; the shape is very elegant and refined; the back has a simple and harmonious geometric design; the legs are slender and pleasant, the back ones are connected in a balanced way with the back; they are made of excellent wood that has been ebonized; the cover, in fine velvet, is the original one, is in excellent condition and the design is very sober and elegant; the chairs were handcrafted between 1950 and 1953 in Meda in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy (Italy), a place famous for the design industry and for the historical handcrafted production of classic and modern furniture; the artisans were faithfully inspired by the famous Italian design Ico Parisi. Ico Parisi (Palermo 1916 - Como 1996) was one of the leading figures in the culture of Como's 900; in 1951 he began friendships and collaborations with artists, designers, and architects such as Lucio Fontana, Bruno Munari, Mario Radice, and Gio Ponti. These relationships profoundly influenced his approach to architecture and furniture design and exemplify Ico Parisi's desire to integrate a synthesis of the arts into his work. By the mid-1950s, Parisi had become one of Italy's most influential furniture designers, with a unique modern aesthetic that uses softwoods often shaped into sweeping undulating curves or simple, essential forms. Ico Parisi is a "humanistic" figure of artist-artist difficult to place, he was an architect and designer but also a photographer, film director, and painter, in short, an artist at 360 degrees, he died in Como on December 19, 1996. The chairs are in excellent original condition. Measures width cm.42, depth cm.44, height cm.91, seat cm.46. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
The very particular chair has an elegant and aggressive shape; Pierre Guariche is a legendary French designer from the 20th century. He gave a personal and innovative touch to design by combining aestheticism and mass production. As a visionary designer, he knew how to create pieces of furniture with a functionalist approach and an aesthetic dimension. He really wanted to meet the needs of the times by using methods of the series production. His creations became mythic pieces such as the Tonneau chair (1953 and 1954), the Tulip chair (1953), and the President's desk (1961). Our chair was made in France in 1960 and recently retouched with Guild fabric.
