Mathieu Mategot Style Modernist Metal Armchairs, a pair, circa 1950

About the Item

These stunning metal chairs or armchairs have a construction reminiscent of Mathieu Mategot's work. The pieces were crafted in France circa 1950. They feature a striking example of French metalwork, with folded and perforated black and red lacquered metal. This superb modernist shape is very comfortable and perfect for any modern interior or contemporary office with a touch of retro style. Dimensions: 20.88 in wide (53 cm) x 20.50 in deep (52 cm) x 33 in high (70 cm). The seat is 17.32 in high (44 cm). Reference: Another model with this unique design of an armchair with a similar backward armrest not attached to the back of the seat is pictured in the book "Mathieu Mategot" by Jousse Enterprise Editions, Copyright 2003.
