Original Edition Nagasaki Chair by Mathieu Matégot
About the Item
A highly rare original Mathieu Matégot "Nagasaki" chair designed in 1954 and one of his best known creations.
It incarnates the innovative techniques Matégot is praised for: The three legged model and perforated sheet metal brings an impression of timeless modernity.
It is exposed at the Vitra Design Museum permanent exhibition.
We have deliberately decided not to restore the piece in order to maintain its historic feel. The one we have on show is an original 1st edition and a true piece of art.
----
We are an exhibition space and an online destination established by the passionate art director behind Jonathan Amar Studio. Our gallery presents a harmonious mix of iconic and engaging 20th century pieces and bespoke contemporary lighting. With a strong focus on Italian mid-century designs, his success strives from sourcing designs with striking shapes, creative techniques and interesting materials that cross the concept of time in the same way a Spirit does.
Our 350 square meter workspace includes a luminous gallery, a restoration atelier where our expert artisans in metalwork, woodwork, upholstery, and electrics; restore each piece with the mission to honor a balance between restoration and preservation. There may be light age-related wear but no hard damages or structural issues.
