About the Item
Designed by Norwegian master Torbjørn Afdal for Bruksbo, the “Hunter” chair is a Scandinavian icon that perfectly balances rugged structure with relaxed comfort. This rare matching pair has been meticulously restored in our atelier, every surface carefully sanded and finished with multiple layers of hard wax oil applied by hand to bring out the depth of the solid rosewood frames.
The new cushions are rebuilt with fresh foam and upholstered in supple top-grain leather, hand-stitched and tufted for lasting comfort. Wide leather arm straps, brass fittings, and the original sling-style suspension complete the design’s honest, architectural feel.
Afdal’s work has long been celebrated for its refined simplicity and uncompromising craftsmanship — and the Hunter remains one of his most enduring and collectible designs. This pair invites you to settle in with ease, while quietly commanding the room with timeless Scandinavian presence.

Torbjørn Afdal
Torbjørn Afdal was one of the leading designers at Bruksbo Tegnekontor and in Scandinavia. Afdal became more well known when his furniture was bought by US first lady Jacqueline Kennedy and by the Japanese Emperor. In later years, he was granted the commission to design the parliamentary and chairs and tables to the courthouse in Oslo.
