A pair of large 19th century os de mouton open armchairs
A very well made high quality pair of armchairs, having generous proportion and form with square pegged joints. Made from French oak, these have a wonderful warm tone, a decorative pair that would work in any home.
Very comfortable sturdy upright chairs, the chairs are in excellent condition. The chairs have been stripped of their original upholstery and upholstered in stylish Guy Goodfellow linen textile. Each armchair features a gently sloping back, connected to two large scrolling arms resting on curved supports.
The term “os de mouton” (French for sheep-bone) refers to the shape of the lower frame of the dining chairs. These French dining chairs reflect the style of the Louis XIV period and the transition to more fluid lines.
Their stature and shapely legs give them a classic, timeless appearance and elegance that is uniquely French.
