Dimensions: D 40 x W 40 x H 45 cm
Materials: nut wood, lacquered MDF.

Both size and color can be customized on request.
Spina is a collection of lacquered tables and seatings. The lacquered surfaces and consistent rhythm of the planes create a visual play of light, shadow, and reflection, adding depth and richness to this already visually graphic collection. The elements of the line are characterized by a dense skeletal base that supports a smaller horizontal plane along its axis.
The thicknesses and proportions of the intersecting vertical planes visually saturate the space underneath its top, creating heaviness as if they were the pedestal for the horizontal plane. There is a visual hierarchy from the heavy plinth to the offset top plane and then to what gets displayed upon its surface.
The notion of stacked objects and planes makes it a sort of altar with a totemic and primitive depiction.
The collection is now composed of 4 elements in 4 lacquered gloss finishing colors. Both size and color can be customized on request. Completely locally made by expert masters, in Veneto, Italy.
Design studio based in Milan, is a collaboration between Cara Judd (South Africa) and Davide Gramatica (Italy). Graduating in product design from IED Milan, Cara and Davide started their professional careers in diverse areas ranging from apprenticing with artisans to working with industrial companies before merging their experience in 2016. They work in the fields of product design, event curation and offer creative consultancy to studios and private clients. Cara and Davide both lecture in the Product Design Department at IED Milan. Passionate about craftsmanship, they also produce their own series of products working together with artisans in Italy and South Africa.
Medulum
An ancient river flowing in the green countryside of the Veneto hinterland, between emerged lands and swamps that have now disappeared. Medulum, one of the favourite waterways of the Venetian aristocracy of old, indispensable for reaching their country homes.
This is where our work draws its inspiration. We combine the experience of 40 years with innovative solutions, collaborating with architect and designer studios in the search and experimentation of new languages, through the craftsmanship of artisanal productions.

Cara e Davide
Italian design studio Cara e Davide is known internationally for its well-made tables, chairs and storage cabinets. The brand’s sculptural furnishings, which feature sleek curving forms and architectural columns that are attention-grabbing in any space, owe to ongoing research in regional materials, processes and experimentation with various techniques.
Cara e Davide comes from the names of the studio's founding designers, South African artist Cara Judd and Italian artist Davide Gramatica. They met while they were attending IED Milano, studying product design.
After graduating in 2011, Judd and Gramatica began their professional design careers separately — they explored various areas that included apprenticeships at ateliers and workshops and working with both small studios as well as large-scale companies. Five years later, the two decided to merge their talents and established the Cara e Davide studio in Milan. That same year, they exhibited their first furniture collection at the Salone del Mobile, garnering acclaim among critics and private clients. The studio unveiled a second collection at the London Design Fair.
Cara e Davide specializes in designing contemporary furniture — they’ve created bold pieces by working with wood-based filament printing technologies, Rosso Levanto marble, aluminum and more. The studio’s offerings are frequently produced in collaboration with artisans from South Africa and Italy. The brand has partnered with a range of manufacturers, art spaces and retailers to create these works, including Rinascente, Medulum, Portego, Uniqka, Aybar Gallery and Galerie Philia. When Judd and Gramatica are not in their studio, they’re teaching product design at IED Milan.

We offer a caning back solution and a solid back option, stools and chairs versions. There are three solid wood tonalities as standard and a solid Ebonized black, we also offer wood harmonization if needed, so we work the tonality to approximate a particular target. All woods and materials are certified and responsibly sourced and manufactured.
