About the Item

The architect and designer Ferdinand Kramer designed the chair B403 for Thonet in1927. Developed during the construction of the New Frankfurt, it was initially used in vocational education. As opposed to desk chairs and delicate coffee house chairs from Thonet, the Kramer Chair was designed for comfort and stability. The legs and struts are made of bentwood, while the backrest and seat are made of dark stained, varnished plywood. The Kramer Chair is a historically important chair that can be found in museum collections such as the Werkbundarchiv in Germany This pair of chairs are in original found condition. Considering that they are 95 years old, there are just a few scratches and niks. The front corner of the seat on the second has a small nik. These chairs are comfortable and would make a fine addition to your home. If you are a collector of Bauhaus design, this is a rare chance to add an important work to your collection.
