Set of 12 new England fancy painted sheraton dining chairs, Maple, early 19th century. Original green paint, stenciling and color, original varnish. Shell and leaf gilt stencil on back, neoclassical arrows on back rails, oak leaves and acorn motif on set rail. Paint needs some in painting please see photos. Rush Seats are old, possibly original, will require some work. No breaks or replacements. Rare find from a portsmouth, NH Home. Ten side chairs and two original armchairs. Amazing example of Federal American painted furniture, Lauded at "The Antique and Art Dealers League Silver Jubilee Exhibit" of 1951 (Retains Labels on some).
