The Phalène chair, designed by Marc Sadler for Robots, is a striking piece of contemporary seating that marries sculptural elegance with technical mastery. Its name - meaning moth in French - reflects the delicate, wing-like latex pattern of its back and seat, inspired by the ethereal forms of butterfly and moth wings.
Crafted from solid iron rod, the chair features a 10 mm diameter structural frame, bent and welded for strength and precision, complemented by 5 mm diameter ribs bent and spot-welded over a mold. This meticulous construction results in a form that is visually light yet structurally substantial.
The high-polish chrome finish enhances its reflective qualities, lending the chair an architectural presence that makes it equally suited for use as a statement dining chair or a stand-alone design object.
