About the Item

Elegant design classic from knoll international according to a draft by bruce hannah and andrew morrison from the 1970s. Here in a version with a white frame and black cushion. a functional design on a simple principle. A back and a seat cushion are mounted as visible pillows in a metal frame. The frame is made of a piece of aluminum and painted white. This materiality only enables the continuous shape of the frame, which depicts the armrests from the seat and finally the backrest. The contrast of the thick pads to the fine frame is striking. The cushions "swell" beyond the frame. Seat and back cushions are separated by a gap. The black upholstery fabric consists of a coarse hopsak. A special detail of the upholstery is the large, round buttons. On the one hand, these are functional and serve to assemble the upholstery. On the other hand, they form the association with a classic pillow. The foot is carried out cross -shaped. The chairs are not rotatable. This piece has an attribution mark. Rare pair of K1 lounge chairs for Alpha Industries. Maurice Calka is well known for his outlandish fiberglass boomerang desks, but this pair of chairs is a perfect example of his creativity. The shell is formed aluminum resting on a chrome-plated solid steel base that was directly inspired by the steering wheel of another french icon, the Citroen DS. All original finish and upholstery. Alpha Industries produced approximately 50 chairs.
