About the Item
Aldo Jacober (1935 – 2012) was an Italian industrial designer and architect who began his career in the early 1950s. After studying architecture at Venice’s IUAV University, he initially worked for companies like Olivetti, designing typewriters and calculators. From the 1960s onward, he pursued freelance work with renowned Italian manufacturers such as Artemide, Gavina, Zanotta, and Bazzani. Jacober gained particular recognition for his modernist molded‑plastic furniture, lighting designs, desk accessories, and other interior objects. Notably, his iconic "Trieste" folding chair—co‑designed with Pierangela D’Aniello in 1966—won first prize at the 1966 Trieste Fair and was exhibited in Paris (1968) and later acquired by MoMA in New York . A multiple Compasso d’Oro winner (1964, 1967, 1970, 1979), he also taught industrial design at Venice’s IUAV and Milan’s Politecnico
