A Set of 6 French Bistro Chairs, c.1970
About the Item
A set of (6) 1960s French Baumann bentwood "dove" dining chairs. The dove chairs are one of Baumann’s most acclaimed designs. Baumann was a slightly obscure French producer just starting to gain acceptance in the market. Baumann was founded in 1901, by Swiss Emile Baumann, in Colombier Fontaine, France. Baumann started producing a simple child’s chair but grew rapidly to be a large bentwood producer of diverse offerings with showrooms throughout France. The chairs of the 1950s and 1960 are considered the best. These chairs date to the 1970's and are in all around excellent condition.
