About the Item
A set of 6 straight back chairs designed by George Nakashima Studios c. 1960s. Hand carved spindles, sculpted seat, indented feet at the bottom of the 4 turned legs, pencil markings, doweled spindles, and the signature glue used by Nakashima studios are all tell tale signs of these being from the Nakashima studio.
Dimensions: 22.5” Width 30” Height 17.5” Depth 17” Seat Height
An accompanying 60” spindle leg circular dining table I also available form the same estate.
Provenance: From the estate of one of the largest Dealers in Chinese Art in America, Alice Boney of New York. Whose prominence led her to dealing millions of dollars of Chinese artifacts. We assume these were accepted as a trade at some point. No client name on the bottom and no order card could be found for Boney and therefore The Nakashima studios were unable to authenticate. Thus these are being sold as in the style of George Nakashima.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Chairs show age and use.
