Set of Four 19th Century French Louis XVI Walnut Salon Chairs with Mohair

About the Item

Set of Four 19th century French Louis XVI Walnut Salon Chairs with Embroidered Mohair are the perfect choice for any occasional use anywhere in the home. handcrafted from sumptuous French walnut, each features a lyre-shaped back framed with lush laurel spray and acanthus plume carved detail, with embroidered ribbon and foliate sewn into the plum colored mohair. The seat upright supports are also carved with Greek coin overlay, with egg & dart across the bottom, leading the eye to the generously sized seat. The seat is supported by four tapered, carved and fluted legs, and features more egg & dart molding around the apron, with rosettes on the corners. What a beautiful expression of the classical style, that dates back to ancient Greece and Rome! circa 1890s Each measures 34H x 18W x 15D; seats 19H.
