A Set of Four Chinese Dining Chairs

About the Item

These contemporary Chinese chairs feature hardwood construction and elegant, traditional curved back splats for maximum comfort. The chairs are finished in a modern clear lacquer. They are somewhat lower than typical to allow for the addition of cushions. Shown; slim cushions in grey cloth. Manufactured: Guangdong, China, 1990's. The price is for a set. Chinese mortise-and-tenon construction is arguable the finest furniture system in the world and its roots go back over 1000 years. This makes for very durable and repairable furniture. Any glue that is used is just to prevent tenons from sliding out; the actual physical work is being done only by the wood members. These chairs, though modern, follow the old system. The seat cushions are recent additions. The style of the chairs and the color of the cushions make them easy to use in contemporary decor.
