About the Item

Set of four unique bar stools, designed by Harri Koskinen, 1990s. Leather upholstery, painted metal frame. Good vintage condition, minor patina consistent with age and use. The bar stools are sold as a set. The barstools are a versio of the Artek Lento -series. Harri Koskinen is a Finnish designer. Koskinen studied design at the Lahti Institute of Design and the Helsinki University of Art and Design. In 1998, he founded Friends of Industry studio, where he works on product and concept design and exhibition architecture. Koskinen gained international recognition from the very beginning of his career, designing furniture, speakers, tableware, art glass, etc. He came to the public's attention in 1996 with the Block lamp. The lamp features a light bulb inside a glass cube resembling an ice cube. Block is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Koskinen's designs for Issey Miyake of Japan include the Standard wristwatch and perfume packaging. Koskinen has designed the Uuno trophy awarded at the Finnish Sports Gala and in the 2000s he has designed speaker housings for Genelec. In 2007, he designed a recyclable plastic bottle for Olvi. Koskinen has also designed products for Iittala, Fiskars, Woodnotes and Artek.
