Set of Six Austrian Midcentury Roland Rainer Beech Stacking Chairs

About the Item

A set of six stackable beech plywood chairs designed by Prof. Roland Rainer in 1951. Roland Rainer used these chairs for the Viennese city hall, Wiener Stadthalle in 1956-1962. The chair was named after that as the well-known "Stadthallensessel". Now these chairs are one of the most sought after Austrian midcentury design objects. They feature a black lacquered beechwood base and bright beech plywood seats. Very good vintage condition with signs of use due to their age.
