Set of Two Austrian Midcentury Beech Stacking Chairs by Roland Rainer

$2,926.89per set

About

A set of two stackable beech plywood chairs designed by Prof. Roland Rainer in 1951. Roland Rainer used these chairs for the Viennese city hall, Wiener Stadthalle in 1956-1962. The chair was named after that as the well-known "Stadthallensessel". Now these chairs are one of the most sought after Austrian midcentury design objects. They feature a beechwood base and brown stained plywood seats. On their underside these two show the GW brandmark- which means Gemeinde Wien / Vienna Community. Very good vintage condition with signs of use due to their age and some older repairs.
