About the Item

Rare pair of tall ladder back Hill House chairs designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, circa 1980's. The chairs have a black wooden base and super tall ladder backrest with red leather seat cushions. The chairs are in like new condition and come with the original custom fit covers. I have a second pair of two chairs available if you need a total of four. These chairs have been in storage for over 40 years; straight out of a time capsule! #3950 The Hill House chair features a linear geometry resembling the abstract graphics of Japanese design. The high back has numerous horizontal bars and a grid on top together with slats and straight poles crossed together; the result is a very stabile frame that illustrates Mackintosh’s use of space.
