About the Item

Tomaso Buzzi was the real designer for the Italian and Milanese upper middle class in the post-World War II period. His creations, as in this case, were often commissioned creations, designed for a specific family and on the occasion of an overall furnishing project, to be followed from A to Z. This set of eight chairs together with a fine dining table was designed for an apartment on Via Conservatorio, deep in the heart of bourgeois Milan, near Villa Necchi. Elegant carved and lacquered wood supports hold a solid seat with a high back that slims the entire chair, emphasizing aesthetics alongside functionality. Floral motifs in the carving embellish the overall design without weighing down the shape. The original fabric preserves the aura of the past and ensures the authenticity of the set, leaving the buyer free to decide whether to renew the fabric or preserve the historical value of the piece. The entire order is dated 1954, and the Buzzi archives preserves drawings of the overall design, an excerpt of which is shown in the photo.
