About the Item

Vittorio Valabrega dining chairs, green velvet and wood, Italy, 1950, set of six. These sculpted chairs recall the Art Deco Movement with their elegant shapes. The wooden structure is carefully crafted in each part. The conic legs and their slightly inclined position create an intense optical illusion. The backrest visualizes the artist's hand and his movement to treat the wood, resulting in beautifully curved shapes. Instead, the padded seat and the upper part of the backrest are upholstered with the original soft velvet. Celebrated designer and cabinetmaker, Vittorio Valabrega (1861-1952) founded the Fratelli Valabrega Company in Turin in 1984. He specialized in furniture in the floral Art Nouveau style and manufactured in Neo-Renaissance and the French Rococo Louis XV-style. His designs received positive attention and were awarded at World Exhibitions, such as the Paris Exhibition in 1900. Our atelier carefully restored the chairs. Slight signs of use and time.
