Set 3 Chaise Lounge and 1 Stool/Pouff - G. Pagano Pogatschnig - italy 1940s

About the Item

This exclusive set of chaise lounges, consisting of three armchairs and a stool/pouff, was designed and made in Italy in the 1940s by Giuseppe Pagano Pogatschnig. The design exemplifies the elegance and functionality typical of the modernist era. Made of curved wood, probably beech, known for its strength and flexibility. The woven texture of the seats and backrests is made of natural rope or plant fiber, giving a rustic and natural touch that combines harmoniously with the wooden frame. The soft curves of the seats and backrests are designed to provide maximum comfort and ergonomic support. The curved armrests, perfectly complement the overall design, providing additional support. The stool/pouff can be used as a footrest for one of the armchairs or as a freestanding seat. The set has been kept in excellent condition, with slight signs of wear consistent with age and use. The patina of the wood and the sturdiness of the woven texture testify to the quality craftsmanship of the time. Traces of old restoration can be glimpsed in the back. Giuseppe Pagano Pogatschnig (1896-1945): Giuseppe Pagano Pogatschnig was an Italian architect and designer, recognized for his contributions to the Rationalist movement in Italy. Born in Porec, Pagano studied architecture at the Turin Polytechnic, where he developed a strong interest in functionalism and modernity. Throughout his career, Pagano has collaborated with several leading Italian architects and designers, contributing to numerous projects that have marked modern architecture in Italy. He has been an ardent advocate for the use of innovative materials and techniques to improve the functionality and aesthetics of buildings and furnishings. Pagano's design is distinguished by simplicity, elegance and attention to ergonomic details, as evident in this set of chaise lounges. His influence continues to be recognized and appreciated in the field of design and architecture. This set of chaise lounges represents a piece of Italian design history, combining aesthetic beauty and practical functionality. It is ideal for vintage furniture collectors, modernist design enthusiasts or anyone who wants to add a touch of timeless elegance to their home.
