Vintage French leather club chairs, produced by the French firm of HUGUES CHEVALIER of Paris, who also made the furniture for Cartier’s Head Office in Paris. Mr. Hugues Chevalier designs were inspired from the Art Deco period and this particular pair of French leather club chairs are a near copy from the original 1930’s classic club chair. Our Old Plank upholstery department disassembled both leather club chairs and care went about restoring the insides of both club chairs. The leather was treated with a generous amount of Leatherique, which is a high-end leather rejuvenator. We debated, whether or not to restore the color of the club chairs (still possible), but in the end we all really liked the natural patina of 40-plus years of wear. This petite 1930's leather club chair has a richly aged patina and tasteful proportions. The soft lamb leather is without large tears or gashes --good condition, considering its age and use. The nailheads are almost all original, with only a few discreetly replaced. The original seat cushion most likely wore out and was replaced a dark brown velvet one that closely matches the spirit of the old leather. It is an authentic, vintage replacement that is quite common and totally accepted for a genuine antique. The original springs have been re-tied and preserved. The wooden feet and frame are from an unknown hardwood and in good condition. The feet can be re-stained and varnished at the customer's request for no additional charge. Art Deco leather club chair  Fabulous shape, colour and patina.  This is an original art deco circa late 1920's club chair. Purchased from a London hotel the chair has a wonderful patina and visible mends adding character to this fabulous chair. The chair was restored roughly around ten years ago with the highest care and attention taken to all the details.  Frame is solid beech and elm, glued, screwed and dowelled making it very heavy. The padding is comfortable and full. The cushion is finished in a heavy duty velvet with a feather filled inner and leather piping to compliment the chair. Finally, the shape of the chair is fantastic with a distinctive moustache back, brass studwork and an aged and distressed black leather.  This is not a new chair, it is an absolutely stunning original art deco chair...
